Abstract:InearlyStuarts,kingsbuiltareciprocalcommercialrelationshipwithurbanmer灢
chants.Kingssoldsomeprivilegesforeconomicandpoliticalinterests,whileurban merchants
weresometimesforcedtoacceptthiscommercialrelationship,otherwisetheywouldsufferlossof
self灢interests.Theestablishmentandmaintenanceofthecommercialrelationshipbetweenboth
sidesreliedoftenonthecourtiersasamedium,whichfacilitatedthecorruption.Somebehaviors
ofkingsalsostimulatedexpansionofthecorruption,damagedthecommercialrelationshipwith
urbanmerchants,promoteddivisionsbetweenurbanmerchants,andaggravatedcommonpeople暞
sdissatisfaction.
